Design and project management of signwriting and signage for The Courtyard, inside the Custard Factory. Only in Digbeth.
Job: Design | Project Management | Signwriting
Location: Digbeth, Birmingham, West Midlands
We were tasked with making The Courtyard entrance in Digbeth more appealing when entering from Gibb Street.
Understanding current brand guidelines, we pitched representation of what the courtyard could look like. This included handwritten signs and the introduction of greenery throughout the premises. As part of initial development, we designed and project managed work that talented local artists Jim at Seven 9 Signs (steadiest hand in the West Midlands) and resident Custard Factory graffiti artist Panda at Graffiti Artist carried out.
We redesigned and supplied fresh glass blocks for the entranceway that featured custom designed icons etched into them. We also designed and supplied new panels for the lightbox signs dotted around the premises. With the help of Allstick Signs & Print, we designed and supplied a custom vinyl wrapped table top for the inside of the operations office. Chuck in a few updated wall hung lightbox designs and it’s a success all round!
The Courtyard have since run with our concepts and vision for the space and it’s now the bustling and vibrant centrepiece of Digbeth. It definitely brings attention to the previously uninviting and run down tunnel through which you have to pass to enter The Courtyard.
If you haven’t been to the Courtyard yet, go check it out – beer, food, cafés, games, cinema, and much more!
